USA Shipping Restrictions (UPDATED)

USA Shipping Restrictions (UPDATED)
Mick Percy

This morning we woke to the news that there have been shipping restrictions placed on all goods shipped to the USA. This is in response to the cancellation of the existing de-minimis trade agreement and implementation of additional tariffs.

Here is the statement on the Australia Post website:

"United States of America

26 August 2025: As a result of recently announced changes to import tariffs for postal items sent to the US and Puerto Rico, Australia Post will temporarily partially suspend postal services to the United States and Puerto Rico, effective 26 August 2025 until further notice.

This response is in-line with action taken by numerous postal operators internationally. "

At this point in time we are not 100% sure what this means for our US customers. We assume that this is only a short term / temporary measure and that a solution will be put in place, and postal services will resume. But we do not know what that revised service looks like at this point in time.

We have reached out to customers with current orders in the system with some options, and will keep you posted as details unfold.

UPDATE 29.08.25

We have updated our sales system and online storefront to process the additional tariffs as required under US Executive Order 14324, which are now payable at time of shipping. So we are ready to go when shipping is opened up again.

We have decided to cover tariff costs for all existing orders, and moving forwards all new orders placed from the USA now include tariff charges in the product cost.

What this means is that US customers will no longer pay tariff charges when items enter the US, as all tariff charges will be covered at time of sale.

UPDATE 09.09.25

We have just received the following update from Australia Post:

Australia Post is pleased to update our business customers that we plan to resume postal services to the United States(US) and its overseas territories on or before, Thursday 25 September 2025.

We are working with our service providers to ensure that our eCommerce solution is set up to work with the upcoming changes to the AusPost Business system.

Will will keep you posted of progress in this regard

Update 30.09.25

After careful consideration we have decided to drop our current business integrations provider Zoho. Despite working with them to try and come up with a usable solution to allow us to resume shipping to the US, after 5 weeks they have been unable to provide us with a functioning workaround to process DDE Tariff payments

Zoho are also unable to commit to providing a full solution, which has left us with no option other than to drop them as a provider.

This is not a decision that has been taken lightly, as their software also controls all other aspects of the business, so as a result the impact is massive. However our frustration is compounded by other previous issues relating to quality of service and functionality problems.

If you are considering using Zoho for your business our advice is don't !!!

We are already in the process of migrating everything to a new provider which supports DDE Tariff requirements and hope to have US shipping back up again soon.

There should be no disruption for non-US customers.
