Why Upgrade to the Firestarter Distributor?
The Firestarter Distributor bridges the gap between electronic distributors and crank fired Distributor-Less Ignition Systems (DLS). It retains a traditional drop-in distributor housing for a straightforward installation and setup, but completely modernises the internal controls providing programmable dynamic boost referenced ignition control along with a bunch of other cool and useful features.
We've managed to do this by repackaging our popular crank fired DLS ignition controller to fit inside a billet aluminium distributor housing along with a high resolution trigger to make an easy to install ignition control solution that still includes everything you need to accurately control spark management on boosted engines.
Built specifically to handle high-performance and forced-induction applications, it eliminates mechanical wear points and provides rock-solid spark timing right up to redline, whatever rpm that might be.
Feature-wise it has a high resolution 60-2 trigger, 3 bar map sensor, on board barometric compensation and also includes the same Boost Modulation and Water Methanol Injection controls found on our EFI and DLS Ignition systems.
Our 60-2 trigger setup provides a 6 degree resolution which is similar to crank based trigger systems and eliminates the spark scatter, timing drift and lag found on 4 pole systems.
To put this into context, many alternative electronic ignition systems, such as 123 Ignition, use a 4-pole reluctor trigger. With a low 90° resolution, these setups are essentially modern points replacements. They eliminate physical wear, but they fail to deliver real timing performance gains, leaving your engine susceptible to high-RPM spark scatter and timing drift. Why spend all that money if you are not actually improving your ignition timing?

- Optical Trigger Precision: Replaces old mechanical points and low resolution reluctor sensors with a high-resolution 60-2 electronic trigger mechanism, ensuring absolute timing stability and zero spark scatter even at 10,000 RPM.
- Boost-Compatible 3D Ignition Mapping: Programmed using Tuner Studio or our own Joe Blow app. Ignition advance is mapped using engine rpm, vacuum and boost.
- High and low Output ignition drivers: The Firestarter can drive both smart and dumb coils allowing it to easily interface to your existing coils or external CDS ignition controller.
- Headless control: We've included two smart coil channels which means that it can be used headless to directly drive wasted spark coil packs or twin spark plug setups.
- Two stage rev limiter / launch control: Main redline RPM limiter along with 2 step launch control. Perfect for spooling up that Turbo before beating the tree.
- Progressive 3D mappable Boost controller: Control external PWM boost regulators.
- Progressive 3D mappable WMI controller: Control external PWM flow valves.

- Drop-In Installation: Engineered as a direct drop-in replacement for factory distributors, requiring no modifications to fit. Remove the old distributor, fit the supplied billet clamp and Firestarter distributor. Set the static timing and you're ready to fire your engine up and validate your timing with a timing light..
