Manufacturing Lead Times

Joe Blow Superchargers is a manufacturing company, not a distribution company, drop ship company or retail outlet. So the way product ordering and management works is a little different to normal ecommerce providers that sell things online. Here's a breakdown of how our ordering process works and what you can expect when you order from us.

We make most of our products in house right here in sunny Adelaide (or RADelaide as us locals call it). As many of our products are currently ether made to order, or feature components that are made to order, your order will most likely be subject to manufacturing lead times. This means that when we receive your order, if an item cannot be picked and shipped straight away, it gets assigned to the manufacturing queue and automatically generates the necessary manufacturing orders (MO). These MO's trigger all of the individual components for your order to be manufactured.

As this queue is a 'First-in-First-out' (FIFO) system, all of the orders that are currently in the system ahead of yours need to be completed first, before your order can be made, assembled, packed and shipped off to you. Collectively individual components are often made in batches, so if there's an MO in the system for a bunch of inlet manifolds, this will have a minimum order quantity and so the entire MO will need to be made before any orders waiting for those parts can be fulfilled.

This batch manufacturing process also allows small orders such as blower pulleys to be made as part of existing MO's, which means for those components lead time maybe shorter.

For larger orders such as supercharger kits, which comprise of many parts or sub-components, the overall time is the sum of the time required for the individual parts. Essentially the order cannot ship until the last part has been fulfilled.

What this means in practice is that depending on the number of orders in the system, the stock of components on the shelf as well as other influences and external factors, the actual time between placing your order and it being ready to ship out to you varies.

We are currently transitioning to a 100% make-to-stock (MTS) operational strategy, but as this is a change that requires we stock all parts pre-made, will take time to accomplish. So for now we still have lead times on most products.

Thanks for your understanding
