After many requests we are working on a version of our performance kit that will allow Beetle deck-lids to be closed without the need for deck-lid stand-offs.
Our performance kit has always traditionally focused on performance, the highest flow possible, which required a straight shot through from the carburettor, through the manifold into the blower. However, due to the carburettor positioning, this has always required that the performance kit is used with deck-lid stand-offs as it prevented the deck-lid from closing.
So by customer request we are currently developing an updated version of the kit that mounts the carburettor lower and further forwards, creating the additional clearance required.
There is a small tradeoff with flow, but unless using the kit in a competition environment will be negligible for most people.
This first image shows the standard layout. This layout was mostly dictated by the standard Bosch alternator dimensions which has the charging terminal right at the top front of the alternator, preventing the manifold from being fitted any lower.

Thanks to a customer suggestion we bought an 'easy access' alternator, which has the charging terminal relocated lower down. This allowed us to move the entire supercharger and manifold assembly downwards, gaining additional clearance. As you can see, the difference is fairly noticeable.

We have also angled the manifold forwards to create further clearance at the rear of the engine. This does have a minor impact on flow. We'll get it on the flow bench once we've finished up and compare to our standard manifold.

The one caveat with the new layout is that you must use the alternator with the relocated terminals - also known as an 'easy access' alternator. These are available from most aftermarket VW suppliers. There's no need to do this if your engine uses a generator.
We'll be shipping this off to the customer for trail fitment and once we are happy that everything clears the deck-lid will be offering this as a no-cost option on our performance kits.
We will also be offering the revised manifold and blower stand as an upgrade kit for existing customers, and as separate parts for everyone else.
We'll post an update once this has been test fitted.
