Product Updates: More Choices, Flexibility and a Pricing freeze
Hey everyone,
We’ve been hard at work behind the scenes here at JB HQ. With the EOFY '26 wrapping up and moving into the new financial year it is once again time for our annual review, and we have some exciting news to share about how we are structuring our product lineups moving forward.
As a DIY-focused business, our goal has always been to deliver high-quality, cost effective performance without forcing you to pay for parts you don't actually need. We want you guys to get the best bang for your buck.
Our pricing has been more or less the same since pre-Covid times and whilst we've managed to absorb many supply and procurement increases over the years, the cost of doing business keeps increasing year after year, which right now leaves us in a position where we need to do something about it. Add in to the mix a couple of post-Covid competitors and not only are things more expensive to make, but we're also losing sales to copy-cats.
As a business the most important thing to us is our customers, so just passing those extra costs on to you guys is not ideal. Everyone is feeling the pinch and cost of living pressures don't help the project budget. So we've thought hard about what we could to to solve this issue and think we've come up with a good idea. We've come up with a solution where we can keep the basic costs of our kits the same, but structure them in a way that you can up spec your purchase if you want.
These updates are designed to give you wider variety, more choice, and maximum cost flexibility depending on exactly where you are with your build. It's also allowing us to retain much of our existing pricing structure whilst still remaining competitive.
Introducing Performance Tiers (Tuning Spec Stages)
To give you total control over your budget and your horsepower goals, we are categorising our kits into clear, distinct Tuning Stages. This allows us to offer a variety of cost options based on the exact level of hardware and performance you want out of the box. We feel that changing our product structure to a traditional tiered performance system not only makes our product options easier to understand, but also gives our customers more choice over their builds and more control of their wallet.
Here is a quick look at what these levels mean for your project:
- Stage 1 (Baseline Option Tier): Optimised for value. This tier is the basic no nonsense product version which includes everything you need and nothing that you don't. This allows us to keep very competitive pricing with most kits remaining the same level that they have been at for the past 5+years. We are able to do that by moving some of the non-essential or more performance oriented components into higher pricing tiers.
- Stage 2 (Intermediate Build Spec): This mid-tier steps things up with additional optional hardware included that adds value, functionality and performance to the baseline kit.
- Stage 3 (Performance / Full Upgrade Tier): Our top level tier includes hardware architecture and performance options that provide the best available options for our products.
What This Means For You
- Pricing freeze: You can still buy our kits at the same price that they have always been, which gives you the absolute best value on the market.
- Save Money: Don’t pay for duplicate parts if you already have those parts in your workshop. Buy the base tier and use what you have.
- Better affordability: In some cases our products will actually be cheaper as moving options into Tier 2 and Tier3 allows us to pass some savings on.
- Clear Upgrade Paths: Easily identify exactly what supporting hardware is included at each price point.
- More Variety: Expect to see these tiered options expanding across our wider range of products soon.
For us it means that we can make changes to our product lines without having to increase pricing or reduce quality. Our goal is to remain competitive whilst still producing the best supercharger kits on the market.
We’re incredibly excited to roll these updates out to make building your dream engine more accessible and customisable than ever. Keep an eye on the store as these product stages continue to go live over the coming weeks!
As always, if you have any questions about any of this, such as which stage fits your current engine build, feel free to drop us a line or open a support ticket and we'll be only too happy to help.
Happy building,
The Joe Blow Team
