AMR Performance Kit

https://joeblow.me/web/image/product.template/580/image_1920?unique=a0b36c0

Our performance carbureted AMR based kits are designed to work on 40/50hp upright style Type 1 engines and are based on the DCOE carburettor.

Available in three different versions, and featuring a choice of blower drive options including a BYO serpentine option or our tried and trusted dedicated Blower drive system, there is a kit to match your build

The Stage 1 kit features round port TIG welded 6060 aluminium which helps to dissipate heat and reduce intake temps. The round ports help keep costs down.

Our Stage 2 kit offers performance improvements with square manifold ports to maximise flow capabilities and reduce intake temps

The Stage 3 kit includes the ultimate blower drive setup with our unique dual serpentine drive which features dedicated PK drive belts for both the blower and the generator / alternator

All kits are available with a range of inlet manifold flange styles, you can use this kit with Weber DCOE's, Dellorto DHLA's, Mikuni HSR, S&S, Jenvey TBs or with our own Joe Blow single throttle body. We also offer this kit with AMR300 style flanges for smaller capacity engines. Just select the style of manifolds you need when ordering. If you want to use a carburettor or throttle body that's not listed, reach out to us before ordering and we should be able to hook you up.

All versions are available with our hideaway manifold setup which tucks the inlet up against the fan shroud to allow the decklid to close without requiring standoffs when fitted to a bug.

Stage 1 Kit

The Stage 1 kit includes the following parts

  • Supercharger stand.
  • Carburettor to blower manifold (2" Round port)
  • Blower outlet manifold (2" Round port)
  • High-Flow large diameter tee manifold.
  • High pressure silicone hoses
  • Heavy duty high pressure hose clamps
  • Throttle cable kit
  • Gasket set
You can order the Stage 1 kit with or without the blower drive system (pulley, belt and tensioner) which allows you to use your own serpentine setup if you wish. The round ports keep the costs lower.

Stage 2 kit

As per the stage 1 kit but with the following differences

  • Billet 6160 57mm blower pulley (2.6:1 drive ratio with our blower drive system)
  • High-Flow square port carburettor to blower manifold
  • High-Flow square port blower outlet manifold
The Stage 2 kit is the same basic design that we have sold for the past 10+ years and works best when coupled with our Dedicated Blower drive system. You can specify a different blower pulley diameter if you wish. Just leave a note at checkout.

Stage 3 kit

As per the Stage 2 kit but with our new Dual serpentine setup.

  • PK style belts for both blower and generator - PK6 for blower drive + PK4 for alt / gen
  • Dual PK style 3 piece crank pulley
  • PK4 gen / alt pulley
  • Additional belt tensioner
  • Additional 4PK drive belt
The stage 3 kit is the ultimate combination of performance and style.

Performance Advantage

Read about what makes our performance kit the best performing AMR kit on the market

You can order this kit without a drive system. This allows you to use your existing serpentine drive setup and run a single drive belt. This works well for low boost applications of 5-6psi

If targeting higher boost levels we recommend that you consider running a dedicated blower drive.

Our dedicated blower drive system features a dual belt drive system, which utilises a dedicated PK6 blower drive, to eliminate slip, and overcome the excessive blower load on generator and alternator bearings found with single belt serpentine setups.

The stock vee belt is retained to drive the generator / alternator

Our Stage 1 kits feature the same 2" round ports copied by our competitors. These work great on mild boost levels of 5-6 psi

Our Stage 2 and 3 kits feature square manifold ports that match the AMR superchargers port shape. The square ports help to reduce adiabatic heating and parasitic load by providing 40% more flow area than the standard 2" round ports.  This helps you to make the most of the available boost from your AMR500 and lowers the detonation risk by reducing intake temps.

Our Stage 2 and 3 options are the way to go if you want to target higher boost levels

Our high flow tee manifold has a 50% larger flow area than the stock manifold and will connect to both dual and single port end castings as well as CB EFI manifolds. Our elongated tee junction helps to keep fuel suspended in the intake charge and not get separated out of suspension, which is a common issue with merged 'Y' bends.

Merged Y bends are unnecessary on forced induction setups, where the charged is pushed through the system. They only offer a performance advantage on normally aspirated engines where the charged is sucked through the system by the pistons.

Y bends also allow reversion waves to travel back up the manifold in opposition to the direction of flow. In contrast, a Tee manifold acts as an acoustic baffle; the sharp junction scatters and dampens the reversion pulse, preventing it from interrupting the incoming flow from the supercharger.

Our new dual serpentine drive features a dedicated PK6 drive belt for the blower and a second PK drive belt for the generator / alternator replacing the stock vee belt with a dedicated PK4 Drive

Our hideaway manifold setup features an angled inlet manifold and revised supercharger stand, that moves the carburettor tight against the fan shroud and alternator to allow the decklid to close without the need for decklid standoffs when this kit is fitted to a bug.

The one caveat with using this setup is that if you use an alternator, you must use an 'easy access' alternator or modify your existing alternator to remove or relocate the main terminal.
